This RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars season 11 bracket, one that I mistakenly found upon initial announcement to be boring, has been a shining star in the RuPaul’s Drag Race galaxy. The past two episodes—eight and nine—have been a true thrill to watch, with the frivolity and foolishness at an all-time high with every queen still delivering exceptional work.
Now, to get it out of the way early, the MVQ point divvying has been unremarkable. Each set of bottom queens at the beginning of the second and third weeks in the bracket have given each other their MVQ points. No one is point-less and winning queens didn’t receive extras; it was all a wash.
Yet due to the fluctuation of queens in the top each week, it’s been exciting to watch. No queen has usurped another in such a way to make the bracket seem weighted in any one direction. We don’t have a Ginger Minj situation on our hands. (Stop! That! Train! in theaters now.)
Last week, the queens were given a roast challenge in the form of a rap battle. Reader, it was superb. Even the less successful queens (Shuga Cain was a bit too nice, but it’s Shuga Cain. I’m not expecting Katt Williams.) were able to deliver addictive verses.
All six girls fired on all cylinders as if to say srry ‘bout last week, we just can’t sew for shit!
Kennedy, Hershii, and Joey were the standouts of the group, giving blistering reads while remaining on beat.
Personally, I am becoming a Joey Jay superfan and, by the looks of it, so is RuPaul. She is funny while remaining capable at the challenges, which is sometimes not the case for a personality queen.
Kennedy and Hershii were the top, allowing Kennedy to deliver an all-timer of a lip sync to Elaine Stritch’s “The Ladies Who Lunch”. It’s a miracle that it has taken this long for the song to be featured on the show. It’s also a miracle that such a talent, like Kennedy, was given the gift of the assignment, as she knocked it out of the park. Funny, nuanced, and perfectly Stritch-ian. My god, teach it in the schools!
This week, the challenge was inspired. Each queen was handed a famous interview from VH1’s The RuPaul Show and they were tasked to lip sync both as Ru and the respective celebrity.
Spoken word lip syncs are so essential to a queen’s performance in clubs across the country, it remains a shock that it still hasn’t become commonplace on the preeminent drag outlet. We had Jinkx and Monet duetting to the famous Designing Women monologue on All-Stars 7, but this challenge was a surprise and delight through and through.
Sam Star delighted as Anna Nicole Smith in such a way that makes one wonder why is she not performing as Anna Nicole nightly? It was Jinkx as Judy levels of making sense. Her RuPaul, however, was just fine.
Elsewhere, Kennedy Davenport slayed a lip sync challenge, of course, adding her own flavor of comedy to an already funny interview between Ru and Eartha Kitt. She pulled out props out of who knows where–Jasmine Masters “Where did you find a loaf of bread?” down.
Joey Jay, unsurprisingly, also did wonderfully as Bea Arthur. As Michelle mentioned, her lip sync was the most spot on, never missing a single syllable.
By a nose, Sam and Kennedy took the top two spots, and with Kennedy securing the lip sync win, secured her spot in the semifinals. However, the bottom four queens realize that the only way to secure someone at least tying Sam’s point total is for all the bottom queens to put their MVQ points towards either Hershii or Jasmine.
By a stroke of luck and talent, Jasmine secured her three sisters’ points, tying Sam. (Typing out math hurts my brain!)
As we know from the first bracket, a tie means RuPaul gets to decide who will be moving forward and out of nowhere, she decides to move both queens forward. Huzzah? If I found that fact out and my name was Morgan McMichaels, I’d be lighting WOW Presents on fire, girl.
We are left on a cliffhanger, with Joey Jay, Salina EsTitties, and Morgan McMichaels in the wildcard lottery to return for the semifinals, so we will have to see what next week brings. If there is a god, Joey Jay won’t move forward, but instead become my best friend.

There is nothing important to report here other than guest judge Bronwyn Newport’s whispering of “the drama” during the final point ceremony. She whispered that whilst wearing a fascinator covered in floating butterflies. God, I love this faggy world I live in.
