This week on In Focus, Fort Ticonderoga curator Matt Keagle shares America 250 celebrations.
Keagle talks about the significance of Fort Ticonderoga during the American Revolution. He discusses how it’s a 2,000-acre museum that offers living history programs and special events, including daily musket firings and cannon demonstrations.
Keagle highlights how visitors can explore exhibit galleries and take boat tours on Lake Champlain. He details upcoming events, which include the “Return of an Army” program over Independence Day weekend, reenacting the Continental Army’s rebuilding, and a reading of the Declaration of Independence on July 28. Keagle also explains that the fort, preserved since 1820, provides a pivotal role in securing American independence.
