HERKIMER, N.Y. — The Herkimer 9 Foundation is celebrating big news as Frank J. Basloe will be inducted into the New York State Basketball Hall of Fame in 2027.
Basloe spent his life digging into the early days of basketball, especially Herkimer’s role in the sport’s beginnings.
The Foundation highlighted his book, I Grew Up with Basketball, and years of research as major contributions for fans, historians and basketball lovers nationwide.
“The recognition of Frank Basloe is a tremendous honor for his family and for everyone who cares about preserving basketball history,” said Scott Flansburg, president of the Herkimer 9 Foundation. “Frank dedicated countless hours to documenting Herkimer’s early basketball story, and his work has provided an invaluable foundation for researchers who continue to study the game’s origins,” Flansburg said.
The Foundation said its mission is to preserve the story of the Herkimer 9, honor the game’s early pioneers and push for Herkimer’s rightful spot in basketball history.
