Last week, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 6-3 to give the federal government the power to end temporary legal protections for Haitian and Syrian migrants — marking a win for President Donald Trump.
Soon after the ruling, Mayor Zohran Mamdani put out a statement pledging support for those affected in the city, stating: “We will not turn our backs on you.”
Faiza Ali, the commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs, joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Monday to discuss more.
“This is going to have a devastating impact on people who have built their lives here,” she said.
“The one thing we want to urge is that people should not panic. They should not make decisions based on fear but fact,” Ali continued.
