NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) –New York City’s free outdoor pools will be open later than usual, with extreme heat expected throughout the week.
All Olympic- and intermediate-size pools will be open until 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, according to city officials. Pools opened for the summer season over the weekend and are normally open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with cleaning from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

State-run pools and cooling areas will also have extended hours, Gov. Kathy Hochul said. The Gantry Plaza State Park spraypad will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. The indoor and outdoor pools at Denny Farrell Riverbank State Park will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. with some breaks in between.
Temperatures are expected to sit in the upper-90s and 100s throughout the holiday weekend. Humidity will make temperatures feel as high as 112 degrees, Mayor Zohran Mamdani said.
