With extreme heat and humidity hitting the Capital Region through Friday, with feel-like temperatures of 100-105 degrees during peak heating hours of the day, Albany County is opening a number of cooling centers.
County Executive Dan McCoy’s office said Tuesday that the MVP Arena atrium and the Neil Hellman Library at the former College of Saint Rose campus will be open in Albany, with the Gil Ethier Albany County Athletic and Community Center in Cohoes open as well.
The hours of each as a cooling center this week:
MVP Arena atrium (51 South Pearl Street, Albany) — 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Wednesday-Thursday
Neil Hellman Library, former College of Saint Rose campus (392 Western Avenue, Albany) — 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday-Thursday
Gil Ethier Albany County Athletic and Community Center (22 Remsen Street, No. 40, Cohoes) — 9 a.m.-7 p.m., Wednesday-Thursday
