BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — THE CITY HAS RELEASED details and a map of restricted zones and viewing zones in Brooklyn Heights for the Macy’s July 4th fireworks event. As of 1 p.m. on Saturday, only Brooklyn Heights residents, businesses and authorized guests will be permitted on the streets shown in red on the map. Residents will need to show ID or some other documentation to gain access.
According to Councilmember Lincoln Restler, resident/visitor passes are also available for those concerned about access. Email his office at [email protected] with your name and address to obtain one.
Montague Street will be open to pedestrians up to Hicks Street. Pedestrians will not need to show any documentation to be on the sidewalk. The South side of Atlantic from Hicks to the BQE, and the North side of Old Fulton from Front to Water will also be open for pedestrian access without any special documentation. All other areas in red will require passing a NYPD checkpoint to access. No Parking will be permitted on all streets marked in red. Towing will start the evening of Friday, July 3.
The deadline has passed to enter the ticket lottery to view the fireworks from Brooklyn Bridge Park.
