Good news: Cake Picnic is back in New York; bad news: it’s sold out

While the NYC Cake Picnic is taking place on Saturday, November 8, in Brooklyn, it’s, alas, sold out already. However, people can volunteer to help and attend. There’s also going to be a cookie version on Saturday, December 13, and to-be-announced 2026 dates.

For those who can’t attend, perhaps there’s consolation in a Prospect Heights collaboration: Cake Picnic Tour founder Elisa Sunga teams up with the Prospect Heights location of Radio Bakery on two cakes on Sunday, November 9, starting at noon. The duo will bake a passionfruit vanilla cake with olive oil chiffon layers; and tiramisu, both available by the slice.

More NYC restaurants are helping to feed New Yorkers

Due to the ongoing government shutdown, the United States Department of Agriculture froze funds for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) as of Saturday, November 1. The benefits program typically offers money to 1.8 million New Yorkers to help pay for food and groceries.
