Charania reported that the deal includes a mutual option structure, with the $19 million guaranteed while allowing either side to opt in, not opt out, along with the possibility of discussing a new contract next summer.
The 6-foot-11 German big man spent the last several seasons with the Orlando Magic, where he became an important reserve center and played alongside his younger brother, Franz Wagner.
In the 2025-26 season with Orlando, Wagner averaged 6.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 0.8 assists while shooting 42.6% from the field and 31.4% from three-point range.
Moe Wagner’s NBA career path
Wagner entered the NBA in 2018 after three seasons at Michigan. He was selected with the No. 25 pick in the first round by the Los Angeles Lakers.
Brooklyn is set to become Wagner’s fifth NBA team, after the Lakers, Washington Wizards, Boston Celtics, and Orlando Magic.
He played his rookie season with the Lakers before moving to Washington in 2019.
During the 2020-21 season, Wagner played for the Wizards, Celtics, and Magic, eventually signing with Orlando in April 2021.

Wagner had his most stable NBA stretch in Orlando. In 2023-24, he played 80 games for the Magic and averaged 10.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.2 assists while shooting 60.1% from the field.
The following season, he averaged 13.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 30 games before suffering a torn left ACL, which sidelined him for 52 games and required surgery.
Across his NBA career, Wagner has appeared in 399 regular-season games, averaging 9.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.2 assists while shooting 51.8% from the field.
