Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce‘s wedding weekend in the Big Apple is going to be a scorcher — and New York City is prepared to help the unhoused population around their Madison Square Garden venue.
In Touch broke the news last month that the singer-songwriter and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, both 36, would tie the knot at the iconic venue during the 4th of July weekend.
On Wednesday, July 1, TMZ reported that an NYC official revealed that from Thursday, July 2, through Saturday, July 4, the Department of Homeless Services will deploy a “significant force” of outreach workers from 200 two-person outreach teams around the MSG and Penn Station area.

However, TMZ noted this is not happening specifically for the A-list couple’s big day. Rather, it’s due to the expected extreme heat.
The outreach workers will alert unhoused people to the heat and try to get them to go to shelters or cooling centers, but cannot make them move.
Additionally, the outlet noted that officials are most worried about the well-being of those on the streets from noon to 8 pm, when the heat will be at its strongest, and the wedding activity will be at its busiest.

In a Tuesday, June 30, press conference, NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani discussed the “immense concern” about the triple-digit temperatures that the city may see.
“My recommendation to all New Yorkers is [to] stay inside and stay cool,” Mamdani, 34, remarked. “If you happen to be getting married at Madison Square Garden, you will be staying inside, and you will be staying cool. I think it’s a good example to set for the city at large.”
On Wednesday, June 24, The New York Times provided a suspected itinerary for the “Cruel Summer” hitmaker and the athlete’s wedding festivities according to sources: “On July 2, the plans call for an intimate gathering of about 100 people at the Garden. The next day on July 3, about 1,000 guests would gather there for a splashier celebration, with possible stage appearances.”
The publication also reported that permits had been filed to close the streets around the venue from July 2 to July 4.
