The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) announced the opening of two modernized elevators serving the Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av EFMR station in Queens as part of larger accessibility and safety upgrades. The elevators opened on time and on budget.
The elevators at Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av provides access from the Manhattan-bound EFMR platform to the EFMR7 mezzanines and from the mezzanine to the Queens-bound EFMR platform. The station serves nearly 40,000riders every weekday. The elevator design-builder is Forte-Gramercy JV. “We’re modernizing critical infrastructure across our system faster than ever,” said MTA Construction and Development President Jamie Torres-Springer. “With new, modern elevators at Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av, riders at this crucial transit hub are in for a smoother, more reliable ride.”
“We are committed to improving accessibility and modernizing elevators for all our riders,” said MTA Chief Accessibility Officer Quemuel Arroyo. “New elevators mean fewer unexpected outages and a more reliable commute.”
