The name of the game on Thursday is staying cool in these dangerously hot temperatures.
Even those who love the summer months in New York City told NY1 they believe this brutal heat is too much. For visitors and New Yorkers, the extreme heat is all they can think about right now.

“Ridiculously hot,” said James Charles when asked by NY1 how he’d describe the extreme heat.
Charles, who was walking around without a t-shirt, said he’s visiting New York from London for a few weeks. He added that he wasn’t expecting brutal temperatures on his trip.
“I don’t wanna do nothing except for relax, drink some ice,” he said. “No, this is horrible, believe me, I’m going back home!”
“I’m describing it as a oven, it’s hot, even the wind is hot,” said Isabel Taveras, a resident of Washington Heights.
“I’m angry walking down the street. I was saying if anybody looks at me wrong, I get more mad when it’s hot out,” she added.
A first-time visitor to the city from Australia, who’s here for the World Cup, said he loves the hot weather.
“You can feel the humidity; it’s really hot outside, I was in Central Park earlier; I did a 10K run,” Kayur Parshotam said. “I think if you put me in a laundry machine, you could wring out all the sweat out of me.”
Even New Yorkers who’re dreading the triple-digit temperatures told NY1 they would take it over the frigid winter months and find whatever way they can to stay cool.
“I don’t sweat a lot and I can touch my back right now; it’s wet,” Taveras said. “A lot of people are just gonna open the fire hydrant and have fun outside.”
