The woman told the operator she woke up and found the man unresponsive, sources said.
The victim had multiple stab wounds to the abdomen and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. He has not been identified.
Investigators found glass from a broken window and blood scattered outside the home, according to a video from the crime scene.
There have been no arrests, and the motive was unclear.
The fatal stabbing is the second murder recorded on Staten Island this year, according to NYPD data.
But other crimes have significantly spiked, including traffic fatalities (11), hate crimes (13), and shooting incidents (9), the data shows.
