RED HOOK, Brooklyn (PIX11) — A city pool with a troubled history remains closed as the tri-state region swelters in the triple-digit heat.

Four motors along with equipment needed to get the Red Hook Pool in working order are in the process of being purchased, a spokesperson told PIX11 on Thursday. Once the equipment is retrieved, installation could begin.

Officials say that the pool will be reopened before the end of July.

Last summer, the pool did not open for the season until mid-August due to a broken pipe.

The spray shower near Red Hook Pool was activated in the meantime. The shower will be active daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Due to the ongoing heat emergency in New York City, the spray showers will be activated until 8:30 p.m.

As an alternative, New Yorkers could cool down at the Douglass and Degraw Pool, located at 250 Douglass Street, or Sunset Pool at 7th Avenue and 41st Street, while the Red Hook Pool remains closed.
