STATEN ISLAND – THE STATEN ISLAND FERRY will be docked for much of the day on Saturday, as will several branches of NYC Ferry service, reports Gothamist.
The Coast Guard has decided that the Staten Island Ferry will not run between 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., or between 8 and 10 p.m., to accommodate dozens of Navy ships sailing up the Hudson River, as well as the fireworks display. The MTA announced that it will increase bus service on routes serving Staten Island to make up for the cancellations.
Service on the NYC Ferry will also be disrupted: On Friday, July 3, all stops on the East River A and B routes, as well as the Astoria route and some stops on the South Brooklyn and Rockaway-Soundview routes will be halted between 1 and 4 p.m., to accommodate the Parade of Tall Ships on the East River. On Saturday, July 4, service on all routes will be suspended by 3 p.m., with stops at Brooklyn Bridge Park and the Brooklyn Army Terminal closed all day.
