Egor Demin scored 23 points for the Brooklyn Nets in a Summer League game against the Sacramento Kings.Despite Demin’s performance, the Nets lost to the Kings, 79-76.Demin was the game’s most efficient scorer, shooting 8 of 15 from the field. The second-year player also contributed seven rebounds in 24 minutes of play.

Former BYU basketball star Egor Demin is not an NBA rookie, but as a second-year player, he still needs seasoning and fine-tuning. The Brooklyn Nets sent him out to California for his second NBA Summer League. Demin and the Nets began their summer of hoops on Saturday against Darius Acuff and the Sacramento Kings. Demin was the best player on the floor, which is as it should be for a second-year guy playing with a lot of pro rookies.

Darius Acuff and the Kings beat Egor’s Nets, 79-76, but Demin was the best and most efficient scorer on the court in this game. Nets Wire wrote that “Egor Demin and Chaney Johnson had standout performances. Demin had 23 points and seven rebounds while Johnson had 10 points and 10 rebounds to put Brooklyn in the position of almost winning their first game of the Classic if it wasn’t for Darius Acuff Jr. Acuff had a slow start to the game, but he eventually rounded into form as he finished the game with 25 points and four assists and Nique Clifford had 14 points and four rebounds, including the game-winning three-pointer.”

Darius Acuff might have scored 25 points to Demin’s 23, but Acuff was 9 of 29 from the field in a very inefficient display. Demin, on the other hand, was 8 of 15 and was razor-sharp, needing roughly half as many shots as Acuff to score almost the same amount of points. Scoring 23 points in 24 minutes of playing time is excellent. Nets Wire graded Demin’s performance as an A, writing that “Demin had his game going all game long as he seemingly couldn’t miss from anywhere other than the three-point line where he struggled to find any consistency. Demin has spoken about getting stronger so that he could get to the rim easier and while that part of his game is still a work in progress, Demin looked more confident initiating contact and working in the paint.”

We will keep you posted on Egor Demin’s progress in the 2026 NBA Summer League.
