GRANBY, N.Y. — The New York State Police identified the man who died after crashing his electric scooter last week.
The state police identified the deceased as Dylan C. Scheller, 31, of Skaneateles, N.Y.
Emergency crews responded to the crash on State Route 48 at Melrose Avenue in the Town of Granby around 7 a.m. on July 3. Scheller was found at the scene.
The police said a preliminary investigation determined that Scheller, who was wearing a helmet, had failed to negotiate a turn on State Route 48 and crashed into a utility pole.
Scheller was alert and responsive to emergency crews at first. They believed he sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
However, he was taken to Oswego Hospital and died. The police said it’s believed that he sustained hidden, internal injuries. The manner of his death was not revealed as of Monday.
The police said the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy to determine his cause of death.
