CHITTENANGO, N.Y. — The New York State Police found the body of a person who went missing in the Chittenango Falls area in May.
The state police said the body of Anna J. Blaszkow, 24, was found on July 2 around 11:31 a.m. in a heavily wooded area just outside of Chittenango Falls State Park on Carrys Hill Road in Cazenovia, N.Y.
Police noted that Blaszkow was also known as “Ansel.”
The police credited Trooper Connors and K9 “Todz” for finding Blaszkow. They were conducting a preliminary inspection of the area in preparation for an additional search that was scheduled with the Chittenango Police Department.
As of Monday morning, the state police said there is no indication of foul play. The Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine how Blaszkow died.
Blaszkow was first reported as missing by the state police on May 16.
At the time, Blaszkow was last seen by family on May 11. The family was concerned about Blaszkow after they found a letter expressing self-harm.
Investigators believed that Blaszkow used an “unknown vehicle” from their residence in the Village of Chittenango to Chittenango Falls State Park on May 12.
The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Oneida, N.Y., has taken the lead in the investigation. The Chittenango Police Department is assisting.
The investigation into the matter remains ongoing.
