MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) – A man who allegedly brandished a machete during an incident with another man was arrested over the weekend in Manhattan, authorities said.
Riley County police filed a report of aggravated assault in the case around 7:36 a.m. Thursday, July 2, in the 800 block of N. 4thStreet in Manhattan.
A 51-year-old man was listed as the victim when it was reported that a known 65-year-old man brandished a machete as he approached the victim.

Following an investigation, police arrested Russell Royal Springer, 65, of Manhattan, around 6:54 p.m. Saturday, July 4, in the 400 block of Fort Riley Boulevard.
During the arrest, authorities said, Springer drove his vehicle into a Riley County Police patrol vehicle. Authorities listed a 34-year-old man as the victim in that incident.
Springer was subsequently booked into the Riley County Jail in connection with aggravated assault; aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer; and possession of marijuana.
Springer was issued a total bond of $30,000 and remained in the Riley County Jail on Monday morning, officials said.
