‘It’s all about community’

Assemblymember and Brooklyn Democratic Party Chair Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn noted that this breakfast, in addition to being a social vehicle, is also a push for folks to go out and vote.

“This election is so incredibly important because it contributes to how we vote in Washington, D.C.,” Bichotte Hermelyn said. “We need a mayor, a comptroller — people who are going to protect New York City — to either subsidize or fill in the gaps that D.C. is not providing.”

Former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, who was also in attendance, called Cohn “the most charming man in Brooklyn,” and his breakfast “the ultimate Brooklyn experience.”

“This is where people who care immensely about our borough and our city show up and engage with one another,” de Blasio explained. “I look forward to this every year. It’s all about community, and it’s a place where we can all connect.”

Cohn, a native New Yorker, was raised in Williamsburg and served as district leader for the 50th Assembly District for 27 years. He also once served as president of the Brooklyn Bar Association.

Cohn, the managing partner of Goldberg Cohn, LLP, brings to the firm more than 30 years of experience in family and matrimonial Law, government relations, real estate litigation, and other niche areas.

In addition, Cohn is a graduate of both New York University and Brooklyn Law School.
