City education officials recently delayed the release of guidelines for the use of artificial intelligence in schools across the five boroughs.
The delay comes after officials received backlash over preliminary guidelines that were released earlier this year.
The final guidance on how AI will be incorporated into city public schools was supposed to be released last month, and it’s not yet clear when the education department will unveil it.
Shael Polakow-Suransky, the president of Bank Street College of Education, joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Monday to discuss more.
He served as a former deputy schools chancellor under Mayor Michael Bloomberg and recently wrote an op-ed in the New York Times detailing how to best utilize AI in the classroom.
