Gotham FC, two-time champions of the National Women’s Soccer League, will be moving to Etihad Park in Queens in 2028, the team announced on July 7.
Etihad Park is the future home of New York City FC, which has primarily played at Yankee Stadium since 2015. Gotham agreed to a five-year lease at the new stadium.
Currently, Gotham FC plays at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, home of the New York Red Bulls.
“From day one, our ambition has been bigger than championships,” Carolyn Tisch Blodgett, Gotham FC’s governor, said in a press release. “We are building one of the world’s most iconic clubs and helping define the future of women’s sports.
“Our move to Etihad Park reflects that ambition, and we are deeply grateful to New York City FC for their vision and commitment to helping make this historic moment possible. World-class athletes deserve world-class environments, and this move allows us to keep raising the standard for our players, supporters and the game itself.”

Per Gotham’s website, the arena would be the “first-ever professional soccer-specific stadium” in New York City and contain 25,000 seats. It will also have a 9,000-plus-square-foot outdoor gathering area and 400-foot LED display.
Fans can already secure general admission season tickets by placing a $28 deposit, with club level deposits increasing to $50 and suites at $500.
The stadium will be accessible by numerous major transport options, including the Long Island Railroad, Metro North, 7 train and New Jersey Transit.
Gotham averaged 8,500 fans per game across the last two seasons, below the NWSL average of about 11,000.
“Etihad Park is going to bring another level of energy. We want it to become a place where our fans can push us, where people feel proud to come and where Gotham FC can continue showing what this team and this club can be,” Gotham coach Juan Carlos Amorós said in the release.
Gotham FC will train in New Jersey at the Red Bulls’ old practice facility in Whippany, Gotham’s press release said, converting it into a 27,000-square-foot performance center.
