The opioid epidemic continues to impact communities and families across the state and the nation.
In Albany County, County Executive Dan McCoy announced a new initative to help combat the epidemic.
County leaders held a press conference on Tuesday to mark the start of the “It’s Possible” campaign.
The county executive’s office says the campaign is meant to change how people understand opioid use disorder.
The county’s mental health commissioner said stigma remained one of the biggest problems surrounding the issue.
“They are us. They are our brothers, our mothers, our sisters, our fathers, our neighbors and friends, our co-workers,” said Albany County Department of Mental Health Commissioner Stephen Giordano. “This campaign, from my perspective, is designed for all of us.”
This comes in addition to the county’s already existing opioid task force.
