The city of Kingston and a property management company have reached a settlement in the demolition of the Pike Plan canopies this year.
Kingston will pay William Gottlieb Management Co. $200,000 to settle legal disputes that originally meant to halt the demolition. A judge temporarily blocked the removal last August.
The uptown Kingston project removed more than 40 canopies along Wall and North Front streets. The settlement includes an easement for parking lot access on North Front Street.
“This resolution marks a constructive step forward and reflects a shared commitment to the long-term vitality of Kingston,” read a joint statement from the city and William Gottlieb Management Co. “William Gottlieb Real Estate looks forward to advancing projects that contribute to a thriving civic, creative, and business community—projects that support local jobs, strengthen the tax base, and enhance the cultural and economic fabric that makes Kingston unique.”
