I am always on the hunt for the next mind-blowing platter in New York City, but this one caught me completely off guard. Most people think of standard chicken and rice when they hit up a local halal joint. Not this time. The Golden Grillers in Jamaica, Queens, is completely changing the game with a combination of flavors that is turning heads across the city. They are serving up jerk chicken platters that are pure madness.

I stood right by the counter and watched the magic happen. It all starts with a heavy base of vibrant yellow basmati rice. Then, they pile on fresh lettuce, tomato, red onion, and a generous scoop of sweet corn salad. Next come the sweet plantains. They are fried to a perfect, salty, golden brown crisp. The textures look incredible.

Then came the true star of the show. The jerk chicken. They grab a massive, steaming handful of their wildly tender and saucy shredded chicken and layer it over the rice. The pile just keeps growing. To balance out all that heat, they slide an entire fan of beautifully sliced fresh avocado right on top. It looks absolutely elite.

But they do not stop there. They are never shy with the sauce at this spot. The chef grabbed a squeeze bottle and coated that entire mountain with a thick stream of their signature golden sauce. Then, they layered on a heavy drizzle of their white garlic sauce. Drenched. Look at that drip.

If you think one platter is enough, think again. I also had to watch them build their monster combo platter. This beast starts with the same yellow rice, mixed salad, and sweet plantains. Then, they load it up with a double portion of meat. First comes another heavy scoop of that steaming jerk chicken, followed by a generous layer of their savory house chicken.

They finish this massive creation with a completely different combination of sauces. They drizzle a thick, smoky chipotle sauce across the top before smothering the entire plate in a second heavy bath of that rich golden sauce. The visual is insane. It looks like a volcano of pure comfort food.

I grabbed a fork and went straight for a massive bite of that tender chicken mixed with the sweet plantains and rice. The result? Incredible. The meat is beautifully seasoned, and the combination of the smoky jerk flavor with that tangy golden sauce is a total game-changer. It is sweet, savory, and packed with a perfect hit of spice. If you think you know New York City halal food, you need to think again. Get down to Queens and check out The Golden Grillers for yourself. Who is hungry?
