We welcome back Aotearoa New Zealand-born American composer Annea Lockwood (b. 1939), who brings vibrant energy, ceaseless curiosity, and a profound sense of openness to her music.
Annea Lockwood’s music ranges from environmental sound installations to concert music. Recent works include On Fractured Ground (Belfast field recordings by Pedro Rebelo, Giorgios Varoutsos and Lockwood), Elwha! with Claire Chase, and Into the Vanishing Point with Yarn/Wire. In collaboration with Xenia Pestova Bennett Piano Garden has been permanently installed in Glasgow, Rathmullan and Vienna.
Water is a recurring focus, and her Sound Maps of rivers have been widely presented.Lockwood is a recipient of the SEAMUS Lifetime Achievement Award.
