ALBANY, N.Y. (WRGB) — New York state’s Unified Court System is banning smart glasses in its facilities.
The state Unified Court System tells CBS6 the ban includes any eyewear or headwear that can record audio or video.

“The reason for this prohibition is to ensure that individuals cannot surreptitiously record court proceedings in violation of the New York State Civil Rights Law and applicable court rules,” the court system said in its decision.
Anyone will have to give up the glasses for safekeeping while inside.
It includes litigants, attorneys, witnesses, family members, UCS employees and anyone entering the facility.
The ban takes effect on July 20.
