From July 24-26, Queens County Farm will host its 47th annual Thunderbird American Indian Powwow in collaboration with the Thunderbird American Indian Dancers.
Powwows are a Native American tradition dating back thousands of years. At their core, they are social gatherings meant to reunite families and friends, and a cultural exchange between tribes. The powwow at Queens County Farm is one of the largest in the U.S..
The three-day celebration includes dance competitions between various tribes, a craft and food market and bonfires.

More than 40 Native American nations will be represented at the powwow, with participants traveling across the country to partake in the event.
There are six competitive dance categories and several non-competitive performances as well. Each style will be explained to the audience through interactive storytelling. At the bonfires, which will take place on Friday and Saturday, the audience will be encouraged to join in on the dancing.

Over 15 vendors selling Native American food and crafts will also be present. Offerings include native fry bread, local seafood, ceramics and jewelry.
Tickets for the powwow range between $12-$19 and three-day passes are also available for $24-$38. They can be purchased on the Queens County Farm website.
Queens County Farm is located at 73-50 Little Neck Pkwy. in Floral Park.
