CITYWIDE – A MAN CHARGED on Wednesday for allegedly throwing Molotov cocktails at two churches in Queens allegedly also attacked a store in Cypress Hills the same way last month, Gothamist reports.
Yogesh Sayrange, 36, is facing federal charges for the Cypress Hills incident, which took place on June 25. Sayrange is accused of setting a glass bottle filled with fuel and debris on fire and then throwing it into a smoke shop, where it ignited and caused significant damage. Prosecutors alleged he carried out the attack while wearing a “Guy Fawkes”-style mask, but was captured on surveillance footage removing it afterwards.
Charges have not yet been filed in the attacks on the Queens churches, which caused less damage, but sources said Sayrange will likely be federally charged for those as well.
