Two Capital Region counties are issuing rabies advisories.
Washington County health officials are reporting three new cases of rabies last week. They involve two raccoons and one bat in the towns of Hebron, Salem and Putnam.
Residents are asked to remain alert, report suspicious wildlife, and take precautions to help protect themselves and their pets. For more information, click here.
Meanwhile, there’s also a rabies concern in Warren County after officials say a beaver bit two people around Turtle Island in Lake George last weekend. Officials say a dead beaver later tested positive for rabies, but they can’t confirm this was the same beaver. They say it may have infected others in the colony.
Officials have issued a water safety advisory and ask swimmers to avoid the area through at least July 14.
