A 39-year-old woman has died following a shooting in the Wakefield section of The Bronx, police said.
A spokesperson said that on Monday, July 13, at approximately 11.56 p.m., officers from the 47th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding an assault that took place in front of 4385 Murdock Avenue, between Nereid Avenue and Pitman Avenue.
“Upon arrival, officers observed a 39-year-old female who sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the abdomen,” the spokesperson said. “EMS responded and transported the female to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi where she was subsequently pronounced deceased. There are no arrests at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.”

Police said the deceased has been identified as Julia Anderson of Mount Vernon.
Devin Whitehead, who was at the crime scene, said a black jeep with a shattered front passenger window, possibly from gunshots, was observed behind the cordoned off area while detectives carried out their investigation. Whitehead also added that two cars pulled up at one point and two women were seen hugging each other, with one saying to another, “They killed my sister.”
