Last week, Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Gov. Kathy Hochul announced a new plan to improve bus service in the city by making it faster.
The plan would speed up buses by 20% in 50 priority bus corridors and will also launch what the city is calling “rapid bus service” along five key routes in hopes to save time for riders.
According to officials, the plan intends to save city bus riders about six minutes per ride and have most of the work done by 2030.
The city’s Department of Transportation Commissioner Mike Flynn joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Tuesday to discuss more.
“Six minutes each way, 12 minutes a day. If that’s your daily commute, that’s gonna save you two days a year. Imagine what you could do with that time,” he said.
