Trooper Lynnea Crane told CNY Central that the body was recovered from Little Sodus Bay. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The investigation remains ongoing.

On July 14, 2026, at approximately 3:30 p.m., New York State Police responded to Fair Haven State Park in the village of Fair Haven, Cayuga County, for a reported drowning incident in Little Sodus Bay.
As of latest update from State Police, search efforts were underway involving the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol, the Fair Haven Fire Department boat team, United States Coast Guard, and the New York State Police Underwater Recovery Team (URT).
Members of the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation were also assisting at the scene.
The investigation remains ongoing.
