Two contestants have made Miss England history after becoming the pageant’s first-ever joint regional winners in Leicester. Caitlin Bennett, 19, from Leicestershire, and Ellie Daglish, 23, from Nottinghamshire, could not be separated after finishing on exactly the same score in the Miss England East Midlands final. Organisers crowned them joint winners – the first double crowning in the competition’s 98-year history. The pair, who became close friends during the contest, will now both progress to the national Miss England final later this year, representing their home counties.
