BOROUGHWIDE — THE BROOKLYN PUBLIC LIBRARY and the Brooklyn Institute For Social Research, a community-based education and research institute, will host seven free lectures at locations across Brooklyn this summer for the second annual Sips & Scholars series.
The lectures, many of which will be led by faculty at the Brooklyn Institute, will take place at gardens, bars, parks and cafes in various neighborhoods. Free refreshments will be available at each lecture.
Topics include city planning and architecture, psychoanalysis and art history. The first lecture, which will be held Thursday, July 16, at 6:30 p.m. at the Urbane Arts Club in Ditmas Park will explore Red Vienna, a series of early 20th-century public housing developments, with Isi Litke.
The remaining six lectures will all take place at various dates in August at neighborhoods across Brooklyn including New Lots, Bushwick, Fort Greene and Bay Ridge. More details on the free lectures can be found at the BPL and Brooklyn Institute for Social Research websites.
