NEW YORK (PIX11) — Following a day of extreme heat, severe thunderstorms are making their way through the city on Wednesday.
A severe thunderstorm warning has expanded to include the entire. Warnings are also in effect for parts of Northeastern New Jersey and Nassau County on Long Island.
The warning is in effect until 5:45 p.m.
The thunderstorms are capable of producing 70 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail.
Minor hail damage to vehicles is possible. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes and roofs.
Continuous cloud-to-ground lightning is also occurring with the storm.
People are advised to move indoors immediately until the storm passes.
