STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.—Between panettone boxes stacked at ShopRite and festive lights strung over Forest Avenue, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas on Staten Island. Although it’s hardly November, Carvel has just launched a limited-edition ice cream collection with a major sugar cookie vibe.

The menu blends the “warmth of the oven” with frozen desserts, delivering five sugar cookie-themed options that evoke the flavor of freshly baked cookies.

Highlights from the holiday menu include Sugar Cookie Soft Serve, which works cookie pieces into soft serve; Sugar Cookie Scooped Ice Cream, mixed with real cookie bits, plus festive red and green sprinkles; the Sugar Cookie Sundae Dasher, layered with mashed cookies and colorful sprinkles; the Sugar Cookie Pop, dipped in white hard-shell coating then rolled in sprinkles; and the Sugar Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich, featuring soft serve pressed between two sugar cookies.
The seasonal offerings are part of a partnership with Food Network’s Holiday Baking Championship. From Nov. 4, 2025, through Jan. 12, 2026, customers who purchase any Sundae Dasher will receive a limited-edition Holiday Baking Championship cup, while supplies last.
“It’s the perfect pairing for fans tuning into the show, airing Mondays at 8 p.m. on Food Network,” promos note.
Additional perks include $5 off $20 orders every Monday on DoorDash and UberEats starting Nov. 10, and a holiday sweepstakes with prizes such as a $5,000 cash prize, a $1,000 Carvel gift card, and a one-year subscription to Food Network Magazine.

Carvel, known for inventing “The Original Soft Serve,” has a storied history dating back to 1934 when founder Tom Carvel’s ice cream truck broke down in Hartsdale, New York. Carvel discovered customers preferred the softer texture of his partially melted ice cream, leading him to open a permanent shop and develop soft-serve ice cream.
The Greek-born Carvel, who immigrated to the United States in 1910, transformed this accident into an ice cream empire. By 1936, he had founded the Carvel Corporation and patented a soft-serve machine.
Carvel suggests visiting a local shop or ordering online to enjoy the Sugar Cookie lineup before it melts away in its limited time offering.
