QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11)– A man involved in a motor vehicle collision flew off a scooter and died on Thursday evening, police said.

Police received a 911 call for a report of a motorcycle accident around 6:36 p.m. on the Grand Central Parkway, near the Jackie Robinson Parkway exit.

A woman was driving a scooter with the man as a passenger. The scooter struck an SUV, and both occupants were ejected from the scooter, according to police.

Emergency Medical Services were called, and the woman was taken to a local hospital to be treated for serious injuries, according to authorities. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Footage obtained from the scene shows what appears to be a scooter on fire, with people surrounding someone who is receiving aid. Multiple fire trucks and a handful of police officers were present at the incident.
