City Will Demolish All of Bushwick Church as FDNY Probes Possible Arson
This afternoon, FDNY fire marshals said the cause of the fire at the South Bushwick Reformed Church is “incendiary,” a department spokesperson told Brownstoner, meaning they are investigating it as an arson. The confirmation followed Brownstoner’s report Friday that a security video from a neighbor shows suspicious behavior on church property just before the fire broke out.

In Stunning Reversal, City Pauses Demo of Landmarked Bushwick Church
In an “incredible reversal of fortune,” at about 6 p.m. today, the Department of Buildings granted the the South Bushwick Reformed Church’s request for a hold on the demolition of its fire-ravaged building through Saturday, giving the church the time it needs to save its historic Fellowship Hall, the Bushwick Historic Preservation Association posted on Instagram.
