Wojcik explains how in 2024, New Paltz considered dissolving but opted for consolidation with the town to ensure all voters could weigh in. She discusses how the joint consolidation agreement, a 65-page draft, incorporates past studies and aims to address the village’s unique needs, such as the high rental population and the need for community spaces.

Wojcik details how the village, a university host community, attracts tourists for events like Pride and leaf peepers. She also highlights how as the first openly LGBTQ+ and female mayor, community representation and activism helps leverage her experience in government and local partnerships, including with SUNY New Paltz, to improve infrastructure and community engagement.
