A suspect was taken into federal custody outside 26 Federal Plaza in Lower Manhattan Monday morning after setting off fireworks and menacing passersby with a gun, police sources said.
The suspect, pulling a cart with a sign reading “ICE off our streets,” started a fire that set off fireworks, causing a smoke condition, about 8:30 a.m. The suspect also pulled a gun and menaced people near him, sources said.
The NYPD Bomb Squad responded to the scene and the suspect was arrested at the scene, Worth St. near Centre St., police said.
Inside the cart were two long guns and more fireworks, sources said.
