A federal judge overturned New York’s labor law expansion claiming jurisdiction over private-sector union elections and disputes, finding it’s preempted by the National Labor Relations Act and siding with Amazon in its challenge to the statute.
New York officials already were blocked from enforcing the 2025 law after Amazon.com Services LLC won a preliminary injunction in November. Judge Eric Komitee made it permanent on Monday, granting Amazon’s motion for summary judgment in the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
