As the Hell’s Kitchen Community Cupboard prepares to celebrate its fifth anniversary this August, organizers are hoping more neighbors will help keep one of the neighborhood’s longest-running mutual aid efforts going.

The volunteer-run food pantry on 10th Avenue between W45th and 46th Streets is looking for people who can commit to regular food rescue shifts, collecting surplus groceries and baked goods from local businesses and helping distribute them to neighbors.

As a Hell’s Kitchen resident since 2005, I have lived in both the W30s and W50s. After a 15 year career in the luxury fashion industry, I made a pivot to community advocacy in 2020.
