DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — “CHOICES AND Consequences,” a workshop sponsored by The Izetta Johnson Internship Empowerment Program and Summer Youth Employment Program, will take place the morning of July 22 at 320 Jay St. in ceremonial courtroom 2.95.
The workshop, part of a six-week internship curriculum exposing interns to the vast professional possibilities in the court system, will be conducted by the Kings County District Attorney’s Office.
According to Hon. Deborah Dowling, executive director of the program, the workshop will explore how one wrong decision by a young person, particularly involving impaired or reckless driving, can have lifelong negative effects.
Participants will also gain insight into how prosecutors investigate and handle criminal cases while also learning about the broader effects crime has on individuals and communities.
The presenter will be Deputy Bureau Chief Ron Snyder. Snyder is a veteran assistant district attorney with the Brooklyn DA’s office who specializes in prosecuting serious vehicular crimes. He helps oversee investigations into fatal and serious traffic collisions including those involving pedestrians and cyclists. Snyder was appointed to the leadership role when the Street Safety Bureau was created in 2020 by Brooklyn DA Eric Gonzalez.
