BENSONHURST —  A FREE FOOD DISTRIBUTION EVENT will be hosted on Thursday outside the district office of Assemblymember William Colton.

Colton, whose 47th Assembly District includes Bath Beach, Bensonhurst, Dyker Heights and Gravesend, has partnered with the not-for-profit organization Arise NYC to provide the food.  The free food events are open to everybody, though supplies are limited, and distribution is first-come, first serve. Thursday’s distribution begins at 4 p.m. in front of 155 Kings Highway.

Thursday’s event is part of a series of giveaways that Colton has organized. All are flagged on the Bensonhurst Food Giveaway Facebook page, which Colton’s office launched last year to spread the word about upcoming distributions. Office staff will also contact people who have requested email notifications of imminent food distributions, which are sometimes unavoidably short-notice. Constituents wishing to join the email notification list may call the assemblymember’s office at 718-236-1598.

Arise NYC helps women, children and seniors overcome financial and societal hurdles.
