PROSPECT HEIGHTS — SUE DONOGHUE WILL be the new president and CEO of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden following an announcement by the Board of Trustees on Thursday, July 23.
Donoghue has been a Brooklyn resident for nearly 30 years and most recently led the New York City Parks Department. Donoghue also previously served as president of Prospect Park Alliance. She began her career in parks and green spaces nearly 20 years ago, first joining the New York City Parks Department in 2007 to lead “PlaNYC2030,” the Bloomberg administration’s blueprint for sustainability.
Donoghue later managed initiatives including MillionTreesNYC and the federal and city partnership for Jamaica Bay park land. During her eight years as president of the Prospect Park Alliance, she developed a $100 million restoration campaign along the southern and eastern sides of the park. She will assume her new role at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden on Sept. 1.
Diane Steinberg, chair of Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s Board of Trustees, said, “Sue Donoghue is one of New York City’s greatest champions for urban green spaces.
