MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) – Manhattan’s annual Furniture Amnesty Day is still on at the moment ahead of a forecast of rain for the area.
In a post on the City of Manhattan’s Facebook page, organizers still plan to host the annual day since conditions are expected to improve by the morning, but with some changes.
If anyone signed up to have crews pick up a furniture donation on Friday, the pickup start time originally set for 7 a.m. was moved to 8 a.m. to help keep the donated furniture dry. Donors are also being asked to keep the furniture indoors overnight and place it outside by 8 a.m. or as soon as conditions allow.
If crews visit a scheduled address and do not see furniture, they will make a note and may return later in the day. Volunteers can not enter homes or buildings to retrieve donations.
The annual day is set for Friday, July 24, at Kansas State University’s A-2 parking lot from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
