A group of landlords is suing the Rent Guidelines Board in an attempt to block a rent freeze for roughly 1 million rent-stabilized apartments across the five boroughs.
The lawsuit alleges the mayor pressured the city’s RGB to vote against a rent increase, but City Hall says it’s prepared to defend the board’s decision in court.
This comes as the city has released a report outlining findings from its “Rental Ripoff” hearings, where tenants aired complaints about their landlords.
Leila Bozorg, the deputy mayor for housing and planning, and Cea Weaver, the director of the Mayor’s Office to Protect Tenants, joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Thursday to discuss more.
