MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) — A 19-year-old was brutally attacked while riding a subway in Manhattan on Thursday afternoon, according to the NYPD.
The incident happened on a northbound No. 5 train at around 4:30 p.m.

Police say the attack happened as the train approached the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall station.
An unidentified individual hit the victim in the head repeatedly with a metal water bottle and punched him multiple times in the face, according to the NYPD. The victim was also placed in a chokehold.
Police say the suspect got off the train at the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall station.
The victim was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
