On July 22, 2026, the New York State Police Violent Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team (VGNET) and Community Stabilization Unit (CSU), with the assistance of the City of Oneonta Police Department, arrested an Oneonta man on multiple felony drug charges. 

Shortly after 7:00 p.m., Troopers on patrol in the city of Oneonta observed Michael J. Young, 42, of Oneonta, whom they knew had an active arrest warrant issued by the City of Oneonta court. 

During the investigation, Troopers determined that Young was in possession of:

Approximately 229 grams of suspected cocaineApproximately 87 grams of suspected methamphetamineApproximately 12 grams of suspected fentanyl 

Young was arrested and charged with:

Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 1st degree, a class “A-I” felonyCriminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 2nd degree, a class “A-II” felonyTwo counts Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree (intent to sell), a class “B” felonyCriminal Possession of a Narcotic Drug in the 4th degree, a class “C” felony

Young was processed at SP Oneonta then transported to the Otsego County Jail for Centralized Arraignment.
